Guest Speaker, Barry Maister, Secretary General of the New Zealand Olympic Committee kept the guests at the Fiji Sports Hall of Fame and Fiji Olympic Order Dinner captivated as he reflected on his experiences as an Olympian at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal where he won a gold medal as a member of the New Zealand Men’s Hockey Team, in Mexico City in 1968, Munich in 1972, Montreal in 1976 and Moscow in 1980.
The 2005 Fiji Sports Hall of Fame Dinner was held at the Holiday Inn on Friday 23 September, 2005. The event also launched celebrations of FASANOC’s 50th Anniversary as a Member of the International Olympic family.
Cricketer, the Late Ilikena Bula and Rugby 7s wizard, Waisale Serevi were inducted into the Fiji Sports Hall of Fame while well known sports administrators the Late Sashi Mahendra Singh and Hector Hatch were conferred the Fiji Olympic Order.
