The 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year, Caitlin Clark, is not going to Europe during the offseason; in fact, she revealed that she’s gonna stay stateside and might play golf.
Following the Indiana Fever’s defeat in the first rounds of playoffs to the Connecticut Sun, rookie Caitlin Clark joked about her offseason plans in an exit interview. She said, “I was focused on beating the Connecticut Sun, I haven’t thought too far down the line.“
“I don’t know what I’m going to do tomorrow, I don’t know what I’m going to do the next day. Maybe play some golf...” Caitlin added.
Many sports enthusiasts had speculated she might turn to profitable opportunities overseas during her downtime.
While we don’t know if Caitlin Clark will play golf, it seems certain she won’t be leaving for Europe to play for Unrivalled or any other off-season league.
Instead, she will enjoy her well-deserved break while working on self-improvement and preparing for next season’s WNBA season.
WNBA rookie Caitlin Clark had been playing competitive basketball for almost a year straight!
Since November 2023, Caitlin Clark’s final college season, the Indiana Fever rookie has been playing competitive basketball continuously, one after another, for almost a year without any big break.
Her regular final college season lasted from November to early March, during which time she played for the Iowa Hawkeyes. She rose to prominence with her incredible scoring, assists, and leadership.
Caitlin Clark led the Iowa Hawkeyes to the NCAA Final Four in April, where she won the Naismith Trophy and multiple Player of the Year awards.
Caitlin Clark declared for the 2024 WNBA draft in February, so she began preparing for it after wrapping up her final college season.
On September 25, the Indiana Fever was eliminated after being defeated by the Connecticut Sun, ending Caitlin Clark’s WNBA season for this year.
So, it seems that her best option is downtime without games or Europe, as she can finally take some time off basketball.
Moreover, most WNBA players play overseas during the offseason to supplement their income.
However, income is not an issue for Caitlin Clark, particularly as she has an eight-figure endorsement contract with Nike. That’s not all; she also has brand deals with State Farm and Gatorade.
