Ryan Mutombo has been following in the footsteps of his father, Dikembe Mutombo, a four NBA Defensive Player of the Year award-winning basketball player, and has already started receiving success at an early age.
Born on June 28, 2003, Ryan Mutombo became interested in Basketball after being inspired by his father. Ryan Mutombo watched his father play basketball from an early age and also grew up playing the same sports with his father and brothers.

According to Georgetown University Athletics’ player’s page, Mutombo started playing basketball at his high school, The Lovett School, where he got the title of All-State First Team at center by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution in his senior season.
Since school, he has started showing his magic in basketball, surpassed the 1,500-point milestone at Lovett School, and has been a consistent performer ever since.
At age 21, Ryan Mutombo played 54 games from freshman to junior at Georgetown University!
After a wonderful high school performance, averaging 24 points, 12 rebounds, and 4.8 blocked shots per game, Ryan Mutombo joined Georgetown University in 2021 and started pursuing a basketball career.
During his freshman year in the university, he appeared in a total of 27 games, making one start and averaging 5.1 ppg and 3.0 RPG.

Ryan Mutombo recorded first career double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds while adding four blocks against UMBC. Further, he ranked second on the team with 23 blocks.
Similarly, during sophomore year in 2022, he played for a total of 12 games, averaging 2.5 points and 1.9 rebounds per game. During his tenure as a sophomore, he recorded an efficient season-high of seven points in eight minutes of game against Marquette on February 11.
As of September 2024, Ryan Mutombo has played 15 games as a junior at Georgetown University. As a junior, he scored 11 points and contributed 18 rebounds.
In total, Ryan Mutombo appeared in 54 games from his freshman year to his Junior year as of 2024.

His key to success in basketball at an early age is probably his height. He stands at 7 feet 2 inches, exactly like his father, Dikembe Mutombo, who was also 7 feet 2 inches tall.
